We Can All Make A Difference

Now, more than ever, it is important to consider the impact we all have on the environment. At VergoUK, we are making deliberate efforts to make environmentally conscious decisions within every part of our businesses to help make a difference.

The announcement of the first lockdown in March 2020, of course caused immense upheaval to businesses across the country. However, there are arguments that benefits came from the world slowing down for a few months.

The impact of Covid-19

Thousands of workers have stopped their commute and are now staying home. The impact has seen our human footprint soften to a level not seen in decades. Flights halved and UK road traffic fell by more than 70%. This in turn had an impact on our health. Two million people with respiratory conditions in the UK experienced reduced symptoms and satellites could pick up clear reductions in smog belts across the world.

Canals in Venice were the clearest they have been in 60 years which saw dolphins swimming in them. Beaches also cleaned up and animals were seen roaming outside of their normal territories.

These changes have highlighted the impact we all have on the environment on a daily basis and how small but significant changes can make all the difference.

What we’re going to do

We are committing to making positive changes. For us, this can include working from home when possible, swapping a drive to work with a walk or bike ride or, making conscious efforts to source recyclable products. We can all make a difference.

At VergoUK, we have seen the benefits of having remote meetings. This has greatly reduced our carbon footprint and is something that we will continue to offer where suitable to prevent unnecessary travel. The majority of the chairs that we provide are also 99% recyclable including everything from the fabric and foam to the steel and aluminium castings.

We are committed to always improving and making positive changes wherever possible and are proud to incorporate environmentally friendly habits into our work.
